Hello

I am looking for a support worker for my son with autism.

My son is 22 years old and we are working on assisting him to develop motor skills and social skill. To this end I am looking for a support worker to assist my son with inclusion in two different social groups. You may also do respite if you choose to. Hours of work would be 3 hours in the evenings on Tuesday, and Wednesday. We live in the Newton area of Surrey.

My son is non-verbal, intellectually disabled, and academically he is at a grade 1 to 5 level. Pay would be between $15 and $20 an hour depending on level of experience. You would be working on encouraging speech, social interaction, and life skills. I need someone who:

– is reliable

-has experience working with autism,

– can work collaboratively,

– is patient and has good communication skills, verbal and non-verbal.

In the past my son has been taught in an ABA format, so ABA experience is preferred. Preference would be given to someone who knows the Assistive Communication App Touch Chat.

Please send me your resume via e-mail if you are interested. Criminal record check, Driver’s Abstract and access to a vehicle will be required. Start time will be September.

My e-mail address is annavictor@shaw.ca

Hello:
I was wondering if anyone is aware of any educational software that has been helpful for their children to work on the computer. Christian is able to direct the mouse but he is still in the process of learning how to click the mouse. He also needs to be strongly visually clued as his receptive language is poor. He would be at a basic level ie. matching.

Hi,I need some feedback from other families.
Is it reasonable for your lead therapist to drop a "pop quiz" during a team meeting to assess if the junior therapists are keeping up to date?
We had a major blow up tonight at our bi-weekly team meeting over this.
Insight on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks – Victor Silveira

Our son Christian was in the "secretin study" at sunnyhill. Since he received the placebo we are being offered a vial of the drug at a cost. we need to find a physician willing to administer it.

Has anyone had a physician administer the drug for them since the conclusion of the trail?
