Just a Quick note to parents.
Tomorrow, on CKNW (radio AM 980) at 1pm,
Bill Good will be talking to 2 parents, Bill Rice
and Debora Antifaev, about their struggles
with Autism and our government. Don't forget
to tune in, and if the opportunity arises, call the
program and show your support.Shanan RiceMemberSO…WHAT'S THE DEAL???????
The news is saying today that the government
has been ordered to pay for the treatment of
our children. Is this true??? Should we be
jumping up and down, or is this something we
need to be cautious about? (I'm sure a lot of
you have heard the same news and are
wondering about this too) If anyone has the
real "scoop" on this…..I'm all ears!Shanan RiceMemberHi everyone!
Just wondering if anyone out there has a
"Boardmaker" program that they are not using
anymore or use very infrequently. I am looking
to either buy or borrow from someone. We
have limited funds right now as we've just
started our ABA program in the last month,
and buying a brand new one is out of the
question. I believe they are Windows/Mac
compatible, but just in case…we have an
IMAC.
Thanks,
Shanan RiceShanan RiceMemberI received quite a few personal responses to
my inquiries and came to one conclusion: I
won't have anyone but the most qualified
people messing with my child's mind. I have
no doubt that some of these people think that
they are actually doing families a favour, but
they are misled. Somewhere down the line,
someone is pulling the strings……..Shanan RiceMemberHi all!
I'm just doing up a "wanted" ad for therapists
to be placed on the University bulletin boards
etc. Just wondering if any of you parents have
a sample of a recruitment flyer that has
worked well for you. If you wouldn't mind
sharing your ideas and can email me your
sample it would be very helpful!
Thanks!
(we're so excited and can't wait to get started!)Shanan RiceMemberAs of the parent group meeting on Wed., my
husband and I have decided to "Just Do It"
and we've started calling consultants on the
FEAT list to start up a program.
We are a little confused, however, because we
have recieved 2 faxes from the Laurel Group
(of course not on the FEAT list but someone
had put them in touch with us)
about 2 different programs, both stating that
they use the LOVAAS method. The one fax
compared themselves to LIFE (which is on the
consultant list) and to Project PACE (I haven't
heard of them) One of the programs is called
the Me 2 program. Has anyone heard of it??
Is it possible that they have hired "real"
consultants from the States?
I'd appreciate any feedback!
Thanks, Shanan Rice
