Dear Autism Service Providers (Behavior Consultants, Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physio Therapists)!
Autism Speaks is coming to Vancouver September 28, 2014! We have noticed from the donor list, that one local ABA service provider has already generously donated $1500, and a few others have donated some as well. Thank you SO much! We appreciate knowing you are thinking of our children, by giving back to them.
With 532 autism service providers on the RASP list, can you imagine the difference you could collectively make by all donating?
The campaign progress is currently only at 13%, $30,352. It would be so amazing if you could make that number jump together!
P.S. Although we would love to see you at the walk, if you cant make it, you need not walk to donate. Just go to the website and there is a link where you can make a contribution.
Below is the Autism Speaks Website for the Vancouver Walk:

RedarbMemberIf anyone has experiences with any of the private Distributed Learning schools in BC, and are able to briefly share your experiences we would really appreciate it. We are looking for referrals/information both good and bad, as we are currently looking for a school for our child.
smurfette200@gmail.comRedarbMemberWe are looking for a Teacher's Assistant (we will begin training immediately), to accompany our 6 year old autistic daughter to Grade 1 this upcoming Fall in Abbotsford (most likely half time in the classroom). We would also need you to facilitate 2-3 play dates per week (at our home). Team meetings are once every 2-3 weeks from 5-7pm. It takes several months to train for working in the school, so training would start now, and you would work with her 1:1 as well as play dates before the start of the new school year. She has a friendly, happy personality and get's very excited when it's time for school. She was diagnosed with autism 4 years ago, and has received intensive therapy with significant progress since then. We are needing somebody who is very skilled and confident at interacting with children (both special needs and typically developing). The main parts of your job will be to actively facilitate social interactions between our daughter and her typically developing peers, teach play skills, and promote language. You must have a fun and confident personality, and a strong dedication to use every opportunity possible to positively impact our daughter's future. You will need to have great attention to detail and be quick to not miss interaction opportunities. Our daughter is currently in an ABA/natural environment therapy program, so a general understanding of ABA is an asset, but is not necessary. You will be trained on the principals of ABA on the job, and will receive guidance from our highly qualified Consultant. You must be willing to accept feedback, and be able to adjust quickly. We would need you to commit to at least 1 school year, more would be welcomed.
Please send your cover letter, resume, and current days/hours available to smurfette200@gmail.com
