ABA SW in High School working with an Awesome young man

Do you have 1000 hours of ABA experience or close? Would you like to work as an ABA Support Worker in the Surrey School District or are you already an SW and looking for a change?

We are looking for someone extraordinary to join our grade 10 son’s team. Our amazing SW of 5 years will be leaving us after spring break and we are are looking for someone excited and passionate about working in the older grades of High School. We would like to find someone who will commit until the end of his overage year/grade 13 and possibly beyond. Bell to bell (approx 32 hour) position begins in either March or September 2017.

This is a unique opportunity to step into a position working hand in hand with an experienced, supportive and involved family, team and consultant Leah Mumford at a small ABA friendly and accommodating school.

You must have exceptional communication and generalization skills and be excited about taking a long running program to the next level. Our son’s program is very focused on language building and expansion, and continues to make steady progress in all areas of academics as well. These will be unique years where we explore interests, life skills and vocational options.

The student is an easy-going, sweet, funny, gentle, sensitive and dynamic young man. He loves to be active and is up for almost anything. He loves the outdoors, everything related to the water (swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, boating, going to the beach etc.), hands on classes like textiles and wood working, and music.
***MAJOR BONUS POINTS IF YOU PLAY GUITAR!!!

Please be very clear about why you want to work as a Support Worker in school. We hope to find a match who is interested in completing grade 13, with our son, so this is at least a three year possition.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Due to the responses I have gotten from this ad in the past, I need to clarify that to qualify for this position you MUST have 1000 hours or close to 1000 hours of home ABA experience under the supervision of a board certified Behavior Consultant. You need to fulfill the requirement set by SD36 and successfully apply to the district in order to make this match. Only those chosen for an interview will be contacted.

The ABA Advisory is sending out a friendly reminder that if you are making a NEW request for an ABA SW in the Surrey School district for the 2014/2015 school year, the deadline to submit paperwork is March 1st. If you have a Kindergartener entering school next year or have a new diagnosis for your school aged child and would like to have an ABA Support Worker next year, you need to make a specific request to the district. If you know anyone for whom this applies, please pass along this information.

    Statement from the District:

“Surrey School District (No. 36) welcomes new ABA Support Worker applications for the 2014/2015 academic year. The deadline to receive all required documentation for first-time applicants is March 1st, 2014.
If you currently have an ABA Support Worker you are NOT required to re-apply. Your request has been documented and it is assumed that, unless we are informed otherwise, you wish to continue receiving ABA support.”
