Hi Jamie. I'd be interested in speaking with you, or emailing you directly. Would you mind posting your contact information on the FEAT board so that people can reach you?
Thanks
Dorothy RayMemberWe are seeking a line therapist for our 6 year old son's ABA/AVB autism therapy. He is in Grade 1 with full-time support and has been in a home therapy program for 3 years. He's very verbal, energetic and enthusiastic. He is also a quick learner and is rocketing through his programs so if you like variety, this is a great opportunity!
We are seeking someone 19 years or older, with no criminal record. This is an excellent opportunity for a college or university student who is seeking experience in working with children with autism. ABA experience is valuable, but not necessary. We are willing to train the right person. You must be enthusiastic, fun, and comfortable playing with active little boys.
Our Behaviour Consultants are Dominika Szymanska and Ramen Saggu of ABA Academy, and we are located in the Guildford of Surrey, close to the highway and a main bus route. We need a person who can fill two 2-hour shifts per week, on any combination of Mondays, Wednesdays, and/or Fridays, as well as attend a team meeting once every month or two (to be scheduled as we go along).
Our family is easy to work with and our son is a fun little guy. Come and join our happy team! You can reach us at roganddot@shaw.ca .
Thanks!
Dorothy RoyDorothy RayMemberHi everyone. It's September and our therapists' schedules have changed again creating an opening for a new team member.
We are seeking a line therapist for our 6 year old son's ABA/AVB autism therapy. He is in Grade 1 with full-time support and has been in a home therapy program for 3 years. He's very verbal, energetic and enthusiastic. He is also a quick learner and is rocketing through his programs so if you like variety, this is a great opportunity!
We are seeking someone 19 years or older, preferably a college or university student who has had some experience in working with children. Any ABA experience is also valuable, but not strictly necessary as we can train the right person. You must be enthusiastic, fun, and able to play with little boys (i.e.: be goofy, physically active, and know how to blow a good raspberry on your forearm).

Dorothy RoyDorothy RayMemberSummer's almost here, therapist schedules have changed once again, and we find ourselves short a therapist for the summer and possibly beyond. Our son is turning six this summer, is very high-functioning with a mild language delay, and has a fabulous sense of humour and sunny, boisterous personality. He needs someone enthusiastic, warm and fun to keep him learning (which he does very quickly when motivated by his wonderful therapists!).
We are looking for someone who can commit until at least the end of August, and possibly beyond, who is available to work on Tuesdays, Thursdays and/or Fridays, for two x 2 or 2.5 hour shifts per week, after 12:00 (he has kindergarten every morning until the end of June). We prefer shifts that fall between 12:00 and 4:00, but times are somewhat negotiable.
We live in the Guildford area of Surrey just off of 108th Ave. which is easily accessible by either car or bus. As this might end up being just a summer position, we would be interested in someone whith previous ABA therapist training or experience, but what really matters is a fun, exuberant personality – we can always train the right person!
To contact us, please email Dorothy at roganddot@shaw.ca . If you have a resume that you can email as well, that would be appreciated.
Thanks! Dorothy Roy
Dorothy RayMemberA little behind but I thought I'd share a positive response:
Dear Dorothy,
Thank you very much for your e-mail, and please accept my apologies for
the delay in my reply.I am sorry to hear about the difficulties you are facing funding
treatment for your sons, and yours is a story I have unfortunately heard
many times before. There are so many challenges faced by parents of
autistic children, and this burden is increased by discrepancies in the
level of support provided by provincial governments. I believe that the
federal government must create an even playing field, and you are right
that many other conditions have a national strategy. I agree that a
National Autism Strategy is long overdue.I support Bill C-304 and I will vote in favour of the bill when it comes
before the House.I appreciate you contacting me about an issue that is so close to your
own heart. Please feel free to contact me in the future.Best wishes,

: pDorothy RayMemberThis post is for any BC families with autistic children who have recently moved to Alberta, and experienced the autism funding/services being offered by both provinces. We may need to move soon, but would like as much information as possible in advance about what is available in the way of funding, consultants, therapists, school support, respite and anything else that is offered to children with autism. We'd need to make some key decisions before we actually made the move.
If you have ANY information or experiences that you can pass along, please contact us privately at roganddot@shaw.ca . If you would be willing to include your phone #, we would be very pleased to call you and speak with you in person. If you have lived in Alberta for a long time and have information that you are willing to share, we would be very pleased to speak with you too!
Thanks so much in advance! Dorothy Roy

Dorothy RayMemberHi Jenny. Your post was very moving and made me think about my own 7 year old ASD son. He also became aware of his diagnosis this past year and seems to have taken it in stride. I would very much like to speak with you if you don't mind. My email is roganddot@shaw.ca and my phone# is (604)583-4385.
Thanks Jenny. I hope to hear from you.
Sincerely, Dorothy
Dorothy RayMemberTherapist needed!
We are losing one of our precious therapists to the future she studied for, and need to add a new one to our son's team. He is 4, entering kindergarten in Sept., very funny and sweet, and full of self-determination. He's verbal and moving quickly through his programs.
We live near Guildford, Surrey, and need someone to work two 2-hour shifts per week. The times we have available right now are Tues. and Thurs. mornings from 9:00-11:00am, although there may be some flexibility. Our ABA consultant is Hoa Chan of Tiny Talkers. We would like a commitment of one year minimum, understanding that schedules change regularly.
Applicants don't need ABA experience – you will be trained – but experience with young children and a great ability to play are assets.
We can be reached at (604)583-4385 or by email roganddot@shaw.ca .Please come join our fun and dynamic team, and watch how your efforts make a difference in our son's life!
Sincerely, Dorothy Roy
