    Dental Care Study for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders @ BC Children's Hospital

    Help us investigate the effectiveness of the use of visual cues
    (visual pedagogy) to increase the cooperation of children with autism during dental visits
    ======
    Who can participate in the study?
    – Boys between the ages of 4-8 years
    – Diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder using the DSM IV criteria
    – No complete previous dental exam at other dental office
    ===========
    What would be required of you and your child?
    – 4 dental visits of approximately 1.5 hours each.
    -Contact the research team to let them know that you would be
    interested in enrolling your child into the study. During this initial contact the research team will take the time to explain further details to you and will ask you a few questions to assess whether your child meets the requirements to enter the study.
    – You will then be invited to a meeting with the research team where all of the information you need to make your final decision will be given to you.

    What will your child get out of the study?
    – Free Dental Check-up, cleaning and fluoride treatment
    -Transportation costs will be covered for each visit
