    Join Our Team! (BI and Potential ABA SW Position)

    We are looking for 1-2 dedicated, reliable, energetic, and motivated people to join our ABA team. Our son started Grade 7 in September. He is lots of fun and has a number of cool interests – like power tools, hockey, leaf blowers, skateboarding, sprinklers, and vacuums. Previous BI experience is preferred; however, training will be provided for the right person.

    The position will primarily involve supporting our son in a variety of community-based activities. Sessions will also include some home-based life skills instruction.

    Note: We are actively seeking an ABA SW to support our son in the school setting, beginning in September 2020, as he enters high school!

    *Behaviour Interventionists Needed in South Surrey*

    We are looking for 1-2 Behaviour Interventionists to join an ABA team for a fun, social girl in Grade 3. While your primary role will involve providing home-based intervention and homework support, there may also be occasional outings to gymnastics, swimming etc.; therefore, a valid driver’s license is required.

    We would like someone that has a genuine interest in kids, ideally with experience in ABA and Autism. Sessions will take place during after-school hours two days/week and will last 2 to 2.5 hours.  This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in becoming an ABA SW, or SEAs looking for after-school employment. Grade 11 and 12 students can also apply. All training will be provided by Dr. Sarah Pastrana, BCBA.

    Live-In Caregiver – Victoria

    We are seeking a mature female companion and care provider to move into a two-bedroom suite located in Oak Bay (Victoria) and provide support to a healthy, active, and sociable 23-year-old woman who has ASD and intellectual disabilities. The young woman loves Michael Bublé and going for tea, swims like a mermaid, and will beat anyone at Go Fish! She has been in an ABA program since the age of three, has a general happy disposition,  and does not engage in severe non-compliant or injurious behaviours towards self or others.

    Applicant requirements and responsibilities:

    • Must be a team player and open to working collaboratively as part of the young woman’s support network maintaining communication with parents and day program staff.
    • Is willing to learn and adhere to the young woman’s behaviour plan and programs.
    • Is a non-smoker, health conscious, in good health, leads an active life style. A love of the outdoors is a plus.
    • Is neat, tidy, clean, well-organized, detail-oriented, and skilled in household chores.
    • Will mentor the young woman in community activities.
    • Has previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities – a background in education, psychology, or medical fields an asset.
    • Able to obtain a clear Criminal Record check, First Aid certification, and CPR endorse-ment.
    • Has a current driver’s license and preferably owns vehicle.

    The young woman attends a community inclusion day program from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm Monday to Friday, and often spends Saturdays and/or Sundays with her family.  The starting date is flexible – ideally within the next 10 months. Remuneration is a contracted monthly amount plus subsidized accommodation costs. For the right applicant, the remuneration will be negotiable and substantial.

    Behaviour Interventionist Needed – *Sullivan Heights (Surrey)*

    We are seeking a reliable, energetic and fun behaviour interventionist to work with a video-game loving Grade 4 boy with ASD. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in gaining more experience in joining a team at the time of program start-up. The team is supervised by Dr. Sarah Pastrana, BCBA, and Junior Consultant, Elizabeth Goldstone.

    We are looking for a BI to commit to running after school sessions outside of the home, twice per week for 1.5 hours per session (with the potential to increase to 2 hour sessions) and bi-monthly team meetings.

    Requirements:

    –       Minimum 1 year commitment

    –       Valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract

    –       Recent criminal record check

    –       Experience is preferred, but not required.

She is inquisitive and loves reading and science. She also loves the outdoors, so the tutor should be prepared to spend time outside in all weather conditions.

    The position will involve running home- and community-based programming two days per week. We are currently looking to fill sessions on Tuesdays and Fridays after school. Programs will focus on social and conversation skills, academic skills, and self management skills.

    Initial and ongoing supervision and training will be provided by Sarah Pastrana, BCBA. A one-year commitment and a clean criminal record check are required for this position. Compensation will be based on experience.
