    Hi,

I am hoping to find some legal advice concerning my child as I go through a divorce. My marriage is one of the 80% referred to in the video (link recently posted by Justin) that has not survived. My ex-husband left our home almost two years ago. It's taken me most of this time to recover my sanity and get my son's program back on track. My son is now 6 and my NT daughter is 9.

My kid’s and my life was, and still is, exactly like the lives of the families depicted in the video. I am every one of those women and my son is every one of those kids. To an outsider who has never experienced life with an autistic child, such as a lawyer or a judge, it looks horrendous and out of control.

My ex-husband has stayed involved in my kid's lives and he is now fighting me in court for custody. For the most part he doesn't believe in therapy and programming and he was luke-warm to the idea of a home program which we started 4 years ago.
I live in a remote area in the Interior. No other families out here do this to the extent that I do. Consequently, my lawyer has never heard of or seen anyone in my situation before. She has tried to understand how my life is but she doesn't really get it.

I need to help my lawyer and ultimately the judge understand exactly what my son and I go through on a daily basis and why it is critical that the kids stay with me. My consultant is going to be called to testify and also some of our therapists.

Can anyone with a legal background advise me the best of way of educating my lawyer and ultimately the judge?

    Thank you

    Allison
