Hi All as a followup to our previous note,
There are some pretty solid scientific links between Cannabis use and Schizophrenia. Studies done right here in BC show a 4 times increase in Phycosis/Schizophrenic like symptoms that require pharmaceuticals to control, for the rest of the persons life. These are folks who have no traditional family/genetic link to Schizophrenia.
The link found by doctors and researcher is much higher in children/teens who smoked marijuana early in life before there brain had fully developed. It's important information for those who believe that Marijuana is a benign substance, it unfortunately, is NOT.

The science is pretty solid, but not well known in our current "political" quagmire of folks pushing for marijuana legalization.
Les EltonMemberAn interesting read, this is current Autism Research data.
ABSTRACT: The number of children ages 6 to 21 in the United States receiving special education services under the autism disability category increased 91% between 2005 to 2010 while the number of children receiving special education services overall declined by 5%. The demand for special education services continues to rise in disability categories associated with pervasive developmental disorders. Neurodevelopment can be adversely impacted when gene expression is altered by dietary transcription factors, such as zinc insufficiency or deficiency, or by exposure to toxic substances found in our environment, such as mercury or organophosphate pesticides. Gene expression patterns differ geographically between populations and within populations. Gene variants of paraoxonase-1 are associated with autism in North America, but not in Italy, indicating regional specificity in gene-environment interactions. In the current review, we utilize a novel macroepigenetic approach to compare variations in diet and toxic substance exposure between these two geographical populations to determine the likely factors responsible for the autism epidemic in the United States.

Hum, well you might just want to nuke him off the Moo anyways (Milk) and get him into soya milk. It's way better for his health (dioxins in the fat of the milk, female hormones in the milk injected into the mommy cow to keep her pregnant). Milk now a days is much different from milk 100 yrs ago, but whatever.
Just removing him from the milk will probably help tremendously. We did that with our son and after about 6 weeks he became more alert and did better in talking and therapy. Milk Thistle (it's a herb) seemed to help him with his mood as well, which often sucked Oh, how much we have to endure with our little ones! On the featbc board you will probably get all sorts of variety of ideas, but removing milk and gluten is a very very common practice. The results though can unfortunately be somewhat mixed, in my experience when talking to other parents of autistic children.I found after paying lots of fees for naturalpath doctors (which are often not claimable) I just did my own research and tried different things. Sometimes the supplements that are sold by the naturalpath can be quite expensive, like… in the hundreds
For example, our son does not drink Milk as we found that was helpful to remove, but he DOES eat a good amount of glutton (bread, crackers, cookies, pasta, etc). In our experience it was the cows milk that was his issue. Other children may find it's something else. Even if you do do the allergy test, which is fine and often cheap to do, but I find it's more the personal experience (do it and see what happens), that is of higher value.
You could look up on youtube what alergy testing looks like. The traditional method is the skin pin ••••• test (I have done it), it's pretty conclusive. A more "out there" test is an electo feedback test. Thats… a little more unusual.
One thing is important, there is NO harming is removing either, as long as he gets lots of other replacement foods. Oh, you might want to give your son a 1/2 tab of calcium as a supplement.
Les EltonMember>It wasn't about therapy, but more about cool, and social acceptance.
We're thinking of getting him an acoustic for X'mas, as it is much
more transportable, and kinda hip to have a young guy, pull out a
guitar at a gathering, and strum a couple of tunes.Awesome successes! thanks for sharing.
I totally agree with you about the social aspect, as he could take an acoustic just about anywhere (like the local park!), and then enjoy all the cool social interaction, at whatever level he is at! (my son is freeken rude in many social interactions, but… he is getting way way better with practice ).
How about "Smoke Under Water", it should be pretty simple, "Da Da Da, Da Da.Da Da, Da Da Da..Da Da". Plus all the kids around him will go crazy about itLes EltonMemberWANTED: Behavior Interventionist

Autism but I don't have any scientific evidence to discount it.I don't know if this is relevant, but we recently started "TV" therapy with our son. Him, myself and his sister all sit down together and watch good 'ol TV shows. I download older one's like Threes Company, Magnum PI, Big Bang Theory and we all talk about the plots, characters, what we thought was funny, and our son will call us the character names for the next few days,… so you know he is generalizing what he is watching and processing. And the kid is laughing throughout the comedy shows. It's great! Our son would never do this about 2 years ago, I just placed him in front of the TV with me and his sister and let him laugh when he saw something funny. Now he is INTO it. TV therapy, it's up there, cool eh?
My son can tell you all the character names on all the TV shows we want, talk about the plots, who does what, who his favorite character is and ask who yours is. It's all cool
Way cheaper then Music Therapy, and the learning from it is amazing. Our son, would normally just play with his cars on the floor when we watched TV, and whatever you saw in the movie theater would not phase him. But comedy seemed to crack him open. Unsure if anyone else has seen this with there child ? Thought I would lend this note.
