There is a Student Aide position available in the kindergarten classroom at Magnussen School located on UBC campus. The hours would be roughly 8:30-3:00 from Monday to Friday.
This is an opportunity to work in a very unique classroom! Magnussen places an emphasis on teaching brain tools, and teaching children how to learn and behave in a classroom while developing attachment with the students in a nurturing environment. The student to teacher ratio never exceeds 10:1 and this particular class only ever has a maximum of 7 students.
The student requiring an aide is 6 years old and mainly needs support with improving emotional regulation and impulse control. Much of his day is structured using the Social Thinking curriculum.
We are looking for someone firm and consistent who is warm and nurturing. This position would be well suited to those interested in psychology, special education, speech language pathology and teaching.

Lindsay DaviesParticipantHello!
I am a highly experienced BI who is currently employed as an ABA SW during the school year. I am staying with my family in the White Rock/South Surrey area for the summer and am looking to pick up some hours! I am available from now until September 8th. I was thinking respite, outings, play dates, etc. would probably be best as I wouldn't require much if any training – but I can by all means follow a behaviour plan, incorporate current goals, run programs and take data if necessary. If this is something you'd be interested in please e-mail me at: lindsaypdavies@gmail.com
Thanks,
LindsayLindsay DaviesParticipantHello FEAT community!

I am in the Vancouver and White Rock/South Surrey area.

You would be primarily implementing programs based on recommendations from our SLPs using an ABA style approach. We work in themes (ex. Lego Movie, Harry Potter, hockey, etc.) so it is super fun! We work with a fantastic Behaviour Consultant from Autism Partnership in Calgary as well as a team of SLPs in Vancouver. We are located in the UBC/Point Grey/Kits area of Vancouver.
