    Looking for gymnastic buddies :
Hello, I am looking for 2 ASD kids (4 – 7 years old)to join my son's (recreational) gymnastic class in the fall, 2004 in Cartwheels, Richmond (Steveston). The owner of Cartwheels who is also my son's coach mentioned that she will consider planning this class given that we, parents will have to be with our kids during the session. The regular class is too advance in the language content and as for their one-on-one class, there is no opportunity to learn waiting and turn-taking skills. If you are interested please email me at elainegee@shaw.ca or phone me at 604-2720078.

I am writing for a group of families and friends who has recently
diagnosed autistic kids, whose first language is not English, who
lives in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. I know what my
choice of language is. I do have a lot of anecdoctal comments based
on experience. However, I need research based documentation that will
help these families and professionals working for these families make a
"long-term" decision about the choice of language in teaching their
autistic child to communicate. Some professionals view that these
families could use their first/ native language or whatever language
they are comfortable with (usually not English) and the switch over
to English when school starts. The decision belongs to the families
ultimately but the families rely on these professionals to help them
evaluate. Your comments and views are appreciated.

    EXTENDED HEALTH COVERAGE :
I am interested in knowing about extended health coverage for ABA consulting and other related services. My husband's extended health plan is provided by Sun Life. Please email me personally as to how to go about getting coverage for parts of our ABA treatment. I do understand that every health plan is different from different insurance companies. I need to know what to ask and look for. My email address is elainegee@shaw.ca. Thanks.

Hi, I am interested in observing a therapy session at your home with Andrea Sharpe as your program supervisor, preferably for ASD kids around 3 – 4 years old. If it is not possible to observe a session, could you call me to describe a typical therapy session? Thanks. My contact is 604-2720078 or email me at elainegee@shaw.ca.

    Hi,
I have seen the most recent list of service providers from The Autism Society of BC for the Lower Mainland. It has grown in numbers. The list is revised every week. I am assuming that everyone on the list is qualified, proven and has got great track record. Is this a safe assumption or otherwise? Please advise.
