    Hi FEATers,

    We're currently looking to hire a new lead and I was wondering, however discreetly, what the going rate for line and leads is.

    If you would be willing to confidentially share this information with me, I would greatly appreciate it.

    You can e-mail me at:
    scissorhappy@shaw.ca

    Also, if you have a fantastic lead therapist who might be looking for another family (with a very sweet, 9 year old, high functioning girl,) PLEASE pass on my e-mail.

    Thanks so much,
    {Cathy Fitzhugh}

    P.S. I hate September!

    Hello FEAT readers,

    Time has come again: We need a new lead therapist for our team.

    Our nine year old daughter is high functioning, verbal, gentle, affectionate, and very entertaining. Her therapy is fascinating, and her progress is swift. She has been doing ABA for over seven years.

    We work under the guidance of Kim Kirsch and the Early Autism Project, hence, it is a home-based ABA program.

    Previous experience with ABA programs is a must.
    Previous lead experience would be swell.

    Initial training will be provided by our lead therapist along with follow up sessions.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: running sessions on your own, preparing for team meetings once a month, overlapping with our consultant, providing reports to the consultant, working on scheduling, and overlapping therapists.

    You will also need to provide feedback to the therapists and ourselves, train new therapists, oversee data recorded, probe new targets, and coach the team.

    Our team meetings are currently held once a month on a Thursday evening from 5:00-6:30.

    You should be FUN, responsible, dedicated, and creative. You need to have strong play skills, a positive attitude, and lots of energy and patience. You are a good multitasker, are organized, encouraging, enthusiastic, and responsible.

    You need to understand what makes out daughter "tick" and use it to your best advantage.

    You also need to be able to take constructive feedback and implement it immediately. A current criminal record check will be required. Your salary will be negotiable based on your experience and your performance.

    We live in central Vancouver near Main and Broadway, and also near Cambie and 22nd Street.

    Please e-mail your resume to scissorhappy@shaw.ca with "Lead Therapist Position" as the subject or call me at 604-709-6003.

    Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks,

    {Cathy Fitzhugh}

    LOOKING FOR A NEW THERAPIST…

    {Hey There}
    We are looking for a dedicated, encouraging, enthusiastic, responsible, and creative person to join our home-based ABA program. We live in central Vancouver near Main and Broadway and also near Cambie and 22nd.
    Our nine year old daughter is low on the spectrum, has been receiving ABA therapy for seven years, and is very verbal, affectionate, and fun. Her programs are fascinating, and her progress is swift. We work with the Early Autism Project and our consultant is Kim Kirsch.
    Beyond running programs in the apartment, you will be helping her learn to socialize with other children through facilitated play dates, take community outings, play games, and go to the playground. There is a lot of laughter involved in her sessions.
    Previous experience with autistic children would be an asset, but, we are also interested in individuals with a psychology or special education background. Initial training will be provided by our lead therapist along with follow up sessions.
    This position will appeal to people with an interest in psychology, education, special education, speech/language pathology or any other career involving children and clinical therapy.
    This is not only a very good opportunity to gain training and job experience with minimal qualifications but also a fabulously rewarding experience.
    All applicants should have strong play skills, have a positive attitude, be good multi-taskers, be able to take constructive feedback and implement it immediately, and should have lots of energy and patience. Our team rocks! And we really appreciate what YOU do.
    As a therapist, you need to be able to commit to: two 3-hour-shifts a week, plus attend monthly team progress meetings on Thursdays from 5:00-6:30.
    You also must be able to commit to the team for at least one year. Salary is negotiable and is based on experience. And as par, a current criminal record check will be required.
    Please e-mail your resume to scissorhappy@shaw.ca with “Therapist Position" as the subject or call me at 604-709-6003.

    Looking forward to hearing from you,

    Thanks,

    Hi FEATers,

    I'm located in Vancouver. My daughter has been covered for over 6 years. We've had a lot of trouble this year switching over to the new invoicing system: they decided to withhold 1/4 of our yearly funding because the switch-over paperwork wasn't sent in on time.

    In fact, the initial paperwork was never sent to me, and when we owed our provider $, the ministry assured them that there was a "one-time" situation wherein we could pay the provider and be re-imbursed. Our provider passed this on to me, and I stupidly paid it in good faith. But now, that payment was made for sessions that occurred during the months that the gov't is refusing to fund us, and they are refusing to refund it. The woman that made the mistake admits to saying it, yet they won't pay us. It's infuriating, and I'm at my wits end.

    I've had payments delayed before when I sent in paperwork late, but never in 6 years of doing this did I dream that they would actually remove the funding.

    This makes me very angry. Very.

    If anyone has any ideas of who I could talk to or how I could fight this, I'd really appreciate the help.

    scissorhappy@shaw.ca

    Most Sincerely,
    {Cathy}

    Hi FEATers,

    We're looking for a new Speech path to work with our 8 year old daughter. She's fairly high-functioning, but we're having trouble with a lot of things including: intelligibility, drooling, and breath support. Currently, the person we are working with doesn't motivate her as well as they could, and is charging us way too much for services. They are obviously in it too much for the money, and not enough for our daughter. I'm feeling a little pushed-around, and taken advantage of, and would love to find someone more intuitive and easier to deal with.

    We're located in Vancouver.

    You can e-mail me at scissorhappy@shaw.ca

    Thanks So Much,

    We need a dedicated, enthusiastic, and creative person to join our home-based ABA program.  If you have an interest in psychology, education, or children the position may be ideal for you.

    Our seven-year-old daughter is high on the spectrum, has been receiving ABA therapy for five years now, is verbal, affectionate, and fun, and makes a lot of progress.  You will help her learn, communicate and create. There is always a lot of laughter involved in her sessions.

    Applicants should play well, be positive, be able to come up with cool ideas, multi-task, and communicate well with co-workers and parents. If you know a language other than English, that's a plus as it motivates and charms our child.

    As a therapist, you need to be able to commit to two 3-hour-shifts a week, plus attend biweekly team progress meetings on Thursdays in the late afternoon/early evening.  Salary is negotiable and is based on experience.  A current criminal record check will be required.

    You should be an all-around great person.
    We live in Vancouver in Mount Pleasant.
    Please e-mail resumes to scissorhappy@shaw.ca

    Thanks Very Much,

    {Cathy}
