{Hi Everyone}
I've got a question about how to best "save" money for a child with Autism in BC. I am lucky enough to have discovered a distant relative who would like to contribute some money for my daughter's future and I'm trying to figure out the most beneficial, and sound way to do this.
Please email me with any advice on where to start looking, who to contact, or how to proceed, and thanks VERY VERY VERY VERY much in advance.
I can be reached at:

Cathy FitzhughParticipantHi Again Everybody!
I have a question… one more time, for you all.
Due to a complicated return, and audit, from 2010, I haven't (gulp) paid taxes for four years and REALLY need some help getting them done. It would be great if you could send me the name and contact info for an trustworthy accountant who understands the ins and outs out Autism. Someone in Vancouver, would be great, but I'm willing, certainly to travel to find someone competent. You can email me at:
Thanks so much in advance.
Hope things are well as can be for everyone…{Me}

The time has come again: We need a new line therapist for our team in central Vancouver. Our eleven-year-old daughter is high functioning, verbal, affectionate, and very entertaining. Her therapy is fascinating, and her progress is consistent. She has been doing ABA therapy for nine years.
We work under the guidance of Kim Kirsch and the Early Autism Project, a home-based ABA program. Training will be provided by our current lead, who is amazing. (You are in luck.)
You need to be fun, responsible, dedicated, and creative. You should have strong play skills, a positive attitude, and lots of energy and patience. You are a good multi-tasker, are organized, encouraging, enthusiastic, and responsible. Previous experience with ABA programs is a plus, but as long as you seem bright, caring, and capable, we are interested. A criminal record check will be obligatory.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: picking our daughter up from school, recording data, facilitating playdates, helping with home living skills, and helping her with fine and gross motor challenges.
You would have three sessions a week that run from 3:00 to 5:50, and would need to attend a team meeting, held once a month, from 5:00 to 6:30.
If you are interested, please send your resume to:
cathy.fitzhugh@gmail.comWe look forward to hearing from you.

Cathy FitzhughParticipant*NEED AN ACCOUNTANT TO HELP SUBMIT A FEW YEARS OF TAXES IN OR NEAR VANCOUVER*
Hello FEATers!
Me again, and… I still haven't done my taxes.
(GULP.)They audited me three years ago and it's been enough to stop me from pushing through it all. My question is, does anyone have a trustworthy, patient, and helpful tax person (near Vancouver) who can help me submit everything I need to for the past three years? I also need help in order figure out what kind of money the government owes me as I'm hoping that the disability tax benefits I've not gotten can be repaid to me.
The whole task stops me in my tracks and scares me to bits.

Cathy FitzhughParticipant*DISNEYLAND ADVICE*
Hello FEATers!
It's been way too long and I hope that things with you and your families are progressing as well as can be. As always I have a question.
We are taking my daughter (who is now 11) to Disneyland for a week this month. Was wondering if any of you had some tips or advice regarding happily navigating The Land. My daughter is fairly high-functioning but has lots of gross and fine motor challenges and lots of picky eating problems. Finding her food and keeping her fed is certainly a concern.

Cathy FitzhughParticipantHi Again FEATers,
Reposting with my e-mail address. (Thanks Nancy!)
Please reply to:
cathy.fitzhugh@gmail .comI have two recent issues that have arisen with my daughter and was hoping for your always wise and helpful suggestions and feedback. (She is high-functioning, and is ten years old but has a lot of physical challenges.)
The first issue is that her need for oral stimulation have skyrocketed to the point where she constantly has to have something in her mouth. Gum used to solve this problem, but now she is just swallowing her gum. Once the gum is gone, she chews and sucks on her clothing, or if given, will chew on a Chewy Tube. (A few months ago her dentist asked us to stop using the tubes as he thought they might me shifting her teeth around.)
She has also developed sores on the inside of her cheeks that she chews on or rubs with her tongue, and that cause her pain when eating and also pain when we try to brush her teeth. The gum was great, but without it, at school, her speech is difficult to understand and the tubes are just channeling drool all over her desk. It's very worrisome and I'm feeling overwhelmed.
I'm assuming it's a sign that she's feeling an increase in anxiety and am considering raising her dose of Fluoxetine/ Prozac (which is currently at 10 MG a day.)
The other issue has to do with her being an early riser. A very early riser. She goes to bed around 8:00PM always wakes up at around 5:00-6:00 in the morning. She will usually make her way to the computer and keep herself relatively busy until we get up, but I'd rather NOT have her start the day with hours of obsessive computer time, plus, I'm thinking it might possibly be motivating her to get out of bed, but I'm not sure what else she can do or how she can keep herself busy so we can continue to sleep at least until 6:30 or 7:00.
Anyone else dealing with early risers?
Thanks in advance VERY MUCH for any input.
There's a lot going on these days.Sincerely,
{Cathy}
