Next in the Autism Society North Shore Chapter Parent Lecture Series:

ABA Kids and Sports, Fine Arts, and Summer Camps

Yes, it is already time to think about summer!
We welcome everyone to a sharing session about successful ways our children can participate in sporting activities, fine arts, and summer camps.

    * Where have people had great success?
    * Is there extra funding for summer programs?
    * What can you do within your home programme to support these activities?

We'll share what we know and invite attendees to do the same. Bring your stories of Great Success (or Tremendous Disaster – that is helpful too) and bring your questions!

** Next in the North Shore ASBC Parents' Lecture Series **

This month's talk will be open to PARENTS ONLY. Due to parent input, and the availability of an experienced speaker, we are fortunate to be able to offer you our next topic: "Updating your IEP – tips from the field".

We're part way through the school year, and before you round the corner into a new term, it's a great time to review your child's IEP and look at how to keep it up-to-date. Our speaker is a fellow parent who will use his knowledge and personal experience to illustrate some helpful suggestions on this topic.

We will also allow some time for a discussion of the Adapted vs. Modified curriculum and what parents should know about this.

    ** Exciting Opportunities in ABA**

Our established ABA team has some sought-after openings for therapists looking to improve their skill set and advance in the field.

We have openings for a case manager and a lead therapist on this highly cooperative team. We may also be able to offer exposure in the school system to the right candidate. Instructors looking towards graduate or medical school down the road will want to consider the edge these posts will give you. As well, this is a rare chance to work with consultants Michelle Karren and Dr. Sara White, who, with our expert team, will guide you into the job.

Our 6 year old son has moved quickly through programmes since the age of 2 and a half. Bring your energy! Bring your enthusiasm! And bring your sense of humour – he certainly has one. Don't forget your data-taking skills – you'll need them to implement the high standards of these expertly set programmes. Enjoy rock-climbing, mountain biking, swimming or skating? Then perhaps you'd like to hang out doing something you love, while getting paid for it.

Salary commensurate with experience. Interested applicants should make inquiries, or submit resume and cover letter indicating which job you are applying for, to:

    Andrea Finch, andreafinch@shaw.ca
Telephone inquiries welcome, at (604) 987-2212.
    * PLEASE state "ABA Posting" in the subject line
