*** More ABA-Friendly Toys for FREE ***
I knew I'd forget something… we also have:
1. Graco toy doll baby swing (can easily take seat off to use as dolly car seat).
2. Graco doll's pack-and-play crib.
In case it's not completely clear, these are items for a toy doll, not a real baby. Again, if you'd like these they can be picked up from us in North Vancouver – e-mail me at andreafinch@shaw.ca – and stay tuned for the rest of the items I've probably forgotten.
Andrea FinchParticipant*** ABA-Friendly Toys – for FREE! ***
Hi there – we have the following to give away if you are prepared to come and pick them up from us in North Vancouver:
1. Small red kids table and chair. Table is 2' by 2' square – suits pre-schooler. Chair is quite small – similar size to Ikea kids' ones. Both made of wood. We used them as therapy table when we first started our programme – they're great as they don't take too much space.
2. Toy castle – Fisher Price. Will throw in some Playmobil knights (assuming I can find them).
3. Power Rangers set – about 6 Power Rangers plus a tower and some accessories. Was great for early pretend play.
4. Playmobil streetcar
5. Playmobil train station
6. Playmobil helicopter
* NB the Playmobil is essentially all there but there may be some bits missing.
Please contact me within the next week to pick up these items – after that they will be consigned or given to charity.
If interested, please e-mail me privately at andreafinch@shaw.ca – we are in North Vancouver not far from the second narrows bridge, in Lower Lonsdale.
Andrea FinchParticipant** Potential therapist – Vancouver area **
[I am posting this on behalf of a UBC psychology grad who would like to get into ABA. After talking to her on the phone we decided our neighbourhood was too far for her to get to. I can't vouch for her as she is brand new and untrained, but she sounds very keen. Her posting is below.]
I recently graduated with a BA in Psychology from UBC and I am now looking for work with a family as an ABA therapist for a child with autism. Although I do not actually have
experience as a therapist, I know a fair bit about it and am interested in learning more. I grew up around children because my mother runs a family daycare and I have also worked with children/youth for three years in Summer camps,
sports camps, and as an exchange program coordinator. I would like to train with a team preferably in the Vancouver West side/Kitsilano area but would also be willing to travel a little farther if needed. My e-mail address is nat_eddies@dccnet.com and my phone number is 604-290-1760.
Thanks,
NatalieAndrea FinchParticipant** Train Table for Sale **
Hi all – we are finished with what has been a great place to store and play with all those "Thomas the Tank" and Playmobil items! This train table isn't the "official" Thomas one, but is white, has 6 storage bins underneath and has a 2-sided scene board. Dimensions: 48" long by 32" wide, and 20" high.
I should be able to get you a picture if you want one but couldn't figure out how to attach to this post.
Bought it gently used for $100, would sell for $50.
If interested, please e-mail me privately at andreafinch@shaw.ca with "Train table" in the subject line.
And for those who know what I'm talking about – just try to get that song out of your head for the rest of the afternoon! :0)

Andrea FinchParticipant* North Shore Chapter (ASBC) Parent Lecture Series – Important Announcement!
Make sure you set aside Tuesday, May 20th, for our next presentation: Taking the Long View: ABA Families Plan for the Future
The next two North Shore ASBC sessions will address different aspects of long term planning for parents of children with autism.
Many of us have pre-schoolers or primary school aged kids, and many of us are focussed on the present, often hoping our ABA experience will be over… some day. But it is never too early to think about the long term, and only realistic to think about the future, especially when we can take advantage of those who are further along in their programmes than we are.
In May, we are delighted to have Jean Lewis, fellow parent and FEAT of B.C. co-founder, who with a child entering the teen years has some helpful suggestions and experiences to share.

(Co-facilitators for ASBC North Shore Group)Andrea FinchParticipant** WANTED – Yoga for Kids videos **
We are looking to beg, borrow or buy copies of videos or DVDs with programmes along the lines of 'yoga for kids'. Apparently there are versions available that have kids making letter shapes and we'd be especially interested in those.
Anyone with relevant materials available, please contact me privately at andreafinch@shaw.ca.
Thanks!
Andrea FinchParticipant* Change of room for Mar. 11th ASBC North Shore Lecture *
For the Andrea Sharpe Social Thinking talk, the room in the West Van. Library has been changed to the MUSTO ROOM. (This matters because it is at the opposite end of the library and is smaller). There will still be room for those attending but do not expect a lot of "personal space". Thanks for your cooperation.
