ARE YOU AN ASKABLE ADULT???
A SESSION FOR PARENTS, PROFESSIONALS, AND CAREGIVERSThis interactive workshop, on teaching children the facts of life, is for parents and others who work with children with Autism.
Youll hear suggestions on:
* what kind of sexual health information is needed at the various ages
* how to handle your childs questions about the facts of life
* what kind of words to use
* how to discuss feelings, emotions, personal safety
* exploring your own personal beliefs around sensitive topics
* how to discuss sexual health with pre-teens and how to encourage abstinenceThe more informed we are as parents, the more we create opportunities to communicate with our children. Parents should be the primary sexuality educators of their children, but sometimes parents need the tools and information to take advantage of teachable moments with their children.
Further, feeling comfortable and informed as a parent ensures that school family life or sexual health programs are not the only source of sexual health information your children receive. Research has shown that your children want to, and are willing to, hear this important information at home before they hear it from anyone else.
