MemberHi everyone
for all of you in bc not aware, the MCFD (Ministry of Family and Child Development) has on page 17 of 28 page procedure and policy manual that children that are 6 and older do NOT require a multidisclinary team.
A multidisciplinary team consist of a pediatrican, psychologist and speech language pathologist.
If your pediatrician is experienced with the ADOS and ADI-R testing tools, you can be referred to them by your family doctor and MSP can fund his private assessment for you. NO NEED TO PAY.
My funding has been approved as of August 16th so this is put out there for all of you looking for help and can't afford it.
You can reach me at my private email if you need more information or discuss further.
Each case is unique so it is necessary to go over the details but I would be glad to share my experience with anyone interested.
Thanks

MemberHi Dave,
I tried teach town with the 7 year old boy I currently do intervention for. This is a pretty amazing program.
It is all ABA style teaching, and uses fun activities to keep the child interested. He liked using it because normally when he has time with me the computer is closed. It is a very smart program, and when a child picks the same acitivity more than a few times it makes that one unavailable for awhile so they have to pick something different. it offers a good resource for parents and staff either in the home or at school to communicate and take notes effectivily for the child, if the teachtown is installed at home and at school – the child gets a user name – if both computers are online they update each other so home can see what the child did and so can school, so it tracks the childs progress and your not doing the same activity at home and at school. it also has a questionair for the parent or person who is setting this up for the child to get an idea of their reading level and other things. I reccomend trying the 60 day trial – but you must give your credit card info and you have to call and cancell before the 60 days is over or you will begin to pay their monthy fee for it which i belive is around $40 cnd per month – its a subscription based program. Really worth a try!Deleted User
