Unique 13 Month Opportunity in Europe for Bilingual Tutor/Applied Behavioural Analyst (ABA) Therapist
We are a West Vancouver family with 4 children, including a lovely 12 year old autistic boy. We are looking for a french speaking tutor/applied behavioural analyst (aba) therapist to join us in the South of France (Provence) for 13 months beginning July 15, 2012. We will be living in a beautiful area within the Luberon on an olive orchard near some great villages but we will be travelling throughout Europe. If you are interested in this wonderful life experience, we will train you as an autism therapist and pay all living and family travel expenses plus $1,200 per month. Our preference would be for a young, energetic person who loves children and has an interest in education and behavioural science.
All training will be provided by Courtney Phillips working under Dr. Sara White. No previous experience necessary.
Specific Details:
– Ideally the candidate is bilingual.
– Assist with homeschooling 11 year old girl going into grade 6, and 10 year old boy going into grade 5. My husband and I also plan working with them on certain subjects. (Our 5 year old will be attending school in the village).
– Assist with daily routines with my 12 year old non-verbal autistic son using aba therapy. We will provide all training prior to departure from our consultant and other team members at our house in West Vancouver.

Don and Nicole CopemanMemberHi All,
I am looking into buying a communication device for my non-verbal son (cost US$7,000), and am wondering if there is any obscure government funding out there that would cover or at least partially cover this purchase. I already receive the regular funding for his therapy but am hoping there are some other funds out there available.
On another note, this new device I have just come across is AWESOME. It's called "Tango" and it looks like a larger version of the Sony PSP game. If anyone wants to check it out go to http://www.blink-twice.com/tango/videos.html?all=1 .

ncopeman@gmail.comDon and Nicole CopemanMemberHi,
My son, Max (2 1/2), was diagnosed with ASD about 2 months ago. Thanks to meeting some wonderful people who have helped us, and reading everyones informative questions and answers on the chat board, Max is in his 3rd week of ABA therapy and IEII funding is on its way. Thank you again.
I know have a question that others may benefit from. Does anyone have any information regarding the MMR vaccination and whether it can be given in separate dosages? ie. measles one month, mumps, the following month, etc. I also have a daughter, Isabella, who is 14 months old, and another baby on the way (any minute now). I have always, in the past, given Max and Isabella their vaccinations. Isabella is now due for her MMR and I can't possibly give it to her in good conscience knowing that there is even the slightest possibility that this vaccination could be a cause.
My GP has informed me that he does not konw of any way the vaccines can be separated. Our consultant had mentioned that she thought it could be done.
Thanks for any information anyone can provide.
Nicole
