Yayyy, Isaac & Sabrina! Thanks for your posts!

    Karen:

    Thanks!

    Couldn't have said it better.

Mike: You call this 'out of hand'? Give me a break!

Shannon, Mike et al: The 'hostility' you feel here way have just a little to do with a lawsuit in which two levels of government, their lawyers and allies succeeded in conning the Supreme Court of Canada into believing that alternative therapies had as much validity as ABA.

The bottom line is: if you want to spend (I would say 'waste') time, money and effort on stuff like chelation, or witholding essential vaccines from your child, go ahead! Just understand that this is not the place to advocate for it!

By the way, any parent with an autistic child automatically has the support, compassion, etc. of this group. That does not automatically extend to the parent's choosing alternative 'therapies' that have been shown to be unhelpful at best, and sometimes harmful.

Believe me, we've all been through the tribulations you are experiencing. Pursuing 'snake oil' solutions really won't help your child or you. The plain, unadulterated truth will.

Any chance we could cut down on the MMR-related posts here guys? For most of us this is a non-issue.

This is an ABA site. I don't want to hear any more crap about vaccinations. If I did, I would have signed up with the Church of Scientology message board.

    Thanks,

    Dave

    Hi!

Can anyone fill me in on "language-based" ABA training? I have no idea what this is, or if there is any scientific backing for it.

Also, who is Suzanne Jacobsen? Does anyone have experience with her? Please feel free to email me at dbridges1@shaw.ca, phone me at 604-913-3343 with your input, or post on this board.

North Shore Neighbourhood House is proposing to start a program base on the former and guided by the latter, and I'm wondering what to think.

Just a note to all those looking for a new, fun activity for their child.

I recently enrolled my autistic son in a karate program run by Stephane Fournier, held at the Mediated Learning Academy in Coquitlam.

I highly recommend this class and especially the intstructor, who is incredibly patient and gears his instruction to the child's level. Most of the kids in this particular class have special needs of some sort.

Sensei Fournier has a web site, http://www.shintokukai.com, where you can find more info. about class times and locations.

    Dave:

That was incredibly moving, your story about the funeral. I appreciate you sharing that with us.

    Tamara or Mike Leger:

I lost your email address and phone number! Could you please call me at 604-913-3343 and give me the name and phone number of your boy's dentist (again)? Sorry to bug you again about this!

    Much appreciated,
