    Autism Society of British Columbia (ASBC) is sponsoring a one-day workshop on the basics of Applied Behavioural Analysis.

    The workshop will include general information on autism, behavioural theory and discrete trial training as well as the practical aspects of delivering effective behavioural autism treatment.
    Topics to be covered: This workshop will include basic terminology and theory of ABA, with a focus on:
    •The core elements of discrete trial instruction
    •Basics of behaviour functions
    •The importance of any key issues in using reinforcement
    •When and how to prompt
    •The process of teaching from introduction to mastery
    •Issues of professionalism and confidentiality
    •The process of accurate data collection

    Who can benefit from this workshop:
    •Present and potential behavioural interventionist
    •Classroom assistants
    •Individuals interested in working with children with autism spectrum disorders
    •Parents of children with autism spectrum disorders

    About the Workshop Leaders…
    The autism intervention training workshop is conducted by three ABA Program Supervisors: Fay Yen, MSc., Lindsay Parrott, M.Ed. (Candidate) and Julee Bisiker, M.Ed. (Candidate). The workshop leaders have a broad range of experience in the behavioural treatment of children with autism. Together their experience includes training numerous new therapists, providing ongoing training for established teams, training with school aides, working as school aides, designing individualized data collection methods, training senior instructors as well as providing ongoing training for senior instructors, leading training workshops and developing individualized curriculum and behavior management protocol for students with autism under the direct supervision of Board-Certified Behavior Analysts.

    We are looking for a new member to join our well established ABA team under the direction of Behavioral consultant Sharon Baxter.

    You will be supporting a lower functioning 20 year old male with Autism as well as Mitochondrial disease, committing to 2 – 3 to 4 hour shifts per week as well as one team meeting per month. Daytime, afternoon and weekend shifts available.

    Work will involve following his home program as well as working on goals out in the community. You must have your own vehicle and be willing to do outings. Our program focuses mainly on functional communication and life and leisure skills.

    We are looking for an energetic, dedicated team player, someone who is committed to making a difference in a young man’s life.     Tutoring positions available working with a 6 year old student in the home setting, weekdays after school.

    Monthly supervision from a qualified, BCBA certified, Behaviour Consultant is provided. The successful candidate will be willing to attend monthly team meetings, in addition to weekly sessions.

    Training will be provided. The successful candidate will be required to work at least 2 shifts per week. A one year commitment will also be required.

    The student and his family live in Abbotsford, near the Sumas exit off Hwy 1.

    Behaviour Interventionists Wanted For Respite Program

    An outstanding opportunity to work in the field of ABA and behaviour intervention with a young man diagnosed with autism in his respite home. Excellent training and supervision will be provided as well as support from board certified behaviour analysts from Canada and the US.

    The student being supported in this program is active, and as part of his behaviour management, staff will be required to participate with him in home and community based recreational activities. Therefore, it is essential that applicants are in good physical condition and can participate in these activities. Driver’s license required and Class 4 preferred. Standard checks and certificates will be required for the successful applicant.

    We are currently recruiting male applicants for a casual (on-call) position in this North Vancouver home. Staff will be required to work a minimum of two shifts per month and attend all team meetings and consults.

    Posting on behalf of the Mackie-Frank family –

    ABA Tutors/BI's needed for summer life skills/recreation position in New Westminster.

    Two individuals are needed to provide ABA intervention to an 18 year old male for the summer. We are looking for two people (2 to 1 ratio) to work Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, in July and August; with one week of vacation and stat. holidays off.

    The morning will be spent completing the youth’s individualized one to one ABA curriculum and the afternoons will be spent generalizing mastered skills in the community, targeting social and leisure skills and exercising.

    Training will start in June.

    This youth has a comprehensive ABA program and works with an excellent team.

    Pay and vacation time are negotiable.

    Employment Opportunity

    We are looking for an ABA tutor to work with our son who is 3 years old. We have been running an ABA home Program for one year under the supervision of Stephanie Price Evans and Sharon Baxter, BCBA, Behaviour Consultants. We are looking for one tutor who could commit to 2, 2.5Hr sessions a week beginning immediately and potentially work with him as an ABA SW in the fall of 2013 when he begins kindergarten. Session times are flexible with team meetings twice per month.

    We require the candidate to be 19 years of age with a clear criminal record check. Experience implementing Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) curricula is a great asset, but is not essential, as all training will be provided.

    It is important to us that all applicants desire to work with children and are strong communicators. This position would suit people with an interest in behavioural psychology, special education, or speech/language pathology.

    The early-bird registration deadline for the 4th Annual BC-ABA conference, March 2nd and 3rd closes on Friday, February 24th. To take advantage of our early-bird rate and to receive a lunch on the day of the conference please register on-line before Friday, February 24th. On-line registration will not be available after this date but you can register at the door on the day of the conference.
