    * Therapists needed *

    Hello,

We are a family who has just moved to Vancouver. Our 7-year-old autistic son has been involved in ABA and we are setting up a program for him here.

We are looking for therapists (both experienced and line therapists) to work with him starting early September. Our consultant will be Michelle Fagan / Lisa Wincz, and we will be living in the Port Coquitlam Area.

Please give us a call or send us an email. Contact info below.

    Thanks,

    Amr and Maha

Just a reminder of the ASBC meeting in South Surrey, Thursday August 12 7-9pm.

Our speaker is Sharon Baxter, MA, BCBA. Sharon will be giving a talk on "Behavior using the Principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis". She will discuss the ABC's of behavior (antecedent, behavior, consequence), functions of behavior and the use of positive reinforcement and other behavior tactics to produce behavior change.

This is a hot topic for most parents of autistic children so please e-mail me if you with to attend or call 604-538-8021 and leave a message, so that we can arrange sufficient seating.

    The meeting is at the
    Semiahmoo House Sociaty
    15306 24th Ave
    South Surrey (almost White Rock)

We live in Port Coquitlam, and we've never had any problems recruiting people. We've also had a good experience so far with the school system.

    Hello Everyone,

We have just relocated to Vancouver with our 7 year old autistic child. Currently we are living in a temporary accomodation, and are considering moving into a house in the port coquitlam area. We will be setting a home-bases ABA program for our child.

We would like to ask families in the area (or anyone with experience) about how easy/difficult is it to recruit therpaists for that area. Our concern is that if it is not a central location, therpaists would tend to avoid it. Is our concern founded?

If you live in the areas of Port Coquitlam/Moody, please let us know about your experience.

    Thank you,

    Amr

Our 4 1/2 year old son has been recently diagnosed as autistic. We are looking to start up a Lovaas-ABA program and are interested to hear from parents who have dealt with US consultants such as LIFE. It seems that none of the local agencies are accepting new clients.

Also, any input from those parents running programs for similar aged children would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Hello all.

I am trying to purchase photo sequence cards: 3-5 cards per story. I understand LDA produces these cards but I wanted to know if these can be purchased within BC or if anyone knows of a second hand source to purchase from.

Thanks a bunch and have a wonderful summer.

ABA LOVAAS CONSULTANT & SENIOR THERAPIST NEEDED

Hello! My husband & I have a 3 1/2 year old son who has been recently diagnosed with autism disorder.

We have contacted several local consulting agencies and they are fully booked. Are other parents looking at consultants from the U.S., such as the UCLA Department of Psychology in Los Angeles or the Redwood Learning Centre in Utah?

Has anyone used a behaviour service provided named "tinytalkers"? If so, would you please send me some feedback about them.

Does anyone know of a good senior therapist in the South Burnaby / Vancouver area?

    Thank you!
